Hamburg/Germany – The VERE Association for the take-back and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (VERE e.V. registered association) and take-e-way GmbH invite you to their second panel event at the facility of the Patriotic Society of 1765 in Hamburg/Germany. On September 21, 2012 high-ranking representatives of politics and business report about the latest and coming developments under the title "The future of product responsibility".
WEEE directive (2012/19/EU) in the focus of the event
The focus of the event is on the new WEEE directive (2012/19/EU) of the European Parliament and of the council on used electrical and electronic devices which came into force on August 13th, 2012 and has to be implemented by the national legislators until February 2014. The WEEE directive regulates in summary the professional recycling of electrical and electronic used devices and its financing by the manufacturers, importers and in some cases distributors respectively traders.
High-ranking referees from politics and business
It was possible to win representatives of the European Parliament, of the Foundation EAR (= German registration board for electrical and electronic devices), of the Foundation GRS (Gemeinsames Rücknahmesystem Batterien = German take-back scheme for batteries and accumulators), of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), of the Federal Ministery of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) as well as the Bavarian State Ministry for Environment and Health (StMUG).
Mr. Oliver Friedrichs, chairman of the VERE Association opens the event with the lecture "The future of the product responsibility – Effect of Europe on your company".
Mrs. Julia Philipp, parliamentary speaker of Karl-Heinz Florenz, member of the European Parliament in Brussels reports on the development and situation of the WEEE revision from the point of view of the European Parliament.
Mr. Alexander Goldberg, chairman of the Foundation EAR informs about new challenges and chances for the national registration boards in Europe when implementing the WEEE amendment.
Mr. Georgios Chryssos, chairman of the Foundation GRS, gives his speech with the title "New requirements for the take back of used batteries – obligations of the manufacturer, safety, collection and recycling quotas".
Mrs. Jana Dörschel from the department IVB3 "Protection of resources, recycling and water management, energy taxation" of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and Mrs. Heike Schroeder of the department WA II 3 (industry-related product responsibility) of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety report on the "Enhancement of the national regulations for electrical and electronic devices in the frame of the implementation of the European guidelines".
Mr. Herbert Köpnick, chief undersecretary and head of the unit “Integrated product policy and material flow management” of the Bavarian State Ministry for Environment and Health reports together with Mr. Ernst Fischer of the project company Eficom regarding the topic "New ways needed for the recycling of small electrical devices – Experiences of the Bavarian collection of used mobile phones".
Directly discussing problems with the authors of the laws
As already brought together in Berlin 70 members of all over Germany at the event last year under the motto "Product Responsibility – a solvable Challenge?" the VERE Association and take-e-way will also this year create a platform, on which all interested parties from companies and organizations will be informed about law amendments, discuss improvements with one another and be able to establish contacts.
